Une danseuse, avant de s’endormir, fume une cigarette et, en jetant son allumette, aperçoit avec terreur un homme sous son lit. L’épouvante la paralyse. Mais quelqu’un paraît sur la terrasse. C’est la danseuse. Partagée entre l’effroi et la pitié, la jeune femme n’hésite pas longtemps ; elle décroche rapidement une tenture et la jette à l’homme en péril. Celui-ci, tremblant d’émotion et de honte, le cœur plein de gratitude mais impuissant à l’exprimer, tombe à genoux devant celle qui vient de le sauver si généreusement, lui restitue son butin et s’enfuit.
