The film is based loosely on the life of the Irish Tenor, Josef Locke (1917-1999), played by Ned Beatty. The film's exposition begins in Liverpool's Irish community, with Micky O'Neil (Adrian Dunbar) running Hartley's Night Club. Micky is a bit of a rogue, and although he considers Nancy Doyle (Tara Fitzgerald) his girl friend, he seems conflicted in saying "I love you". Following a disastrous love scene, where Nancy briefly shows us all, Micky attempts to win Nancy by booking a series of impostors, including Franc Cinatra (Joe Cuddy) and Mr X (William Hootkins), a Josef Locke impersonator -- who travels under the 'X' since the real Josef Locke is wanted in England for tax evasion. When Micky finds that Nancy's Mum Cathleen (Shirley Ann Field) was Josef Locke's special girl in the 1950's -- he tries to hook them up. Another disastrous love scene (no nudity), and Micky loses his job -- vowing to find the real Joe and bring him back to England from his exile in Ireland to perform for Cathleen and thereby to win back Nancy. The rest of the film covers Micky's search in the beautiful emerald isle, with a triumphant final performance of the real Joe at the about-to-be-torn-down Hartley's. The tunes are classic Locke, although sung by Vernon Midgley. (There is a CD of the same name with original Josef Locke's voice with recordings of 25 of Locke standards). The closing minutes of the film have the bulldog policeman Jim Abbott (David McCallum) closing in on Joe -- "Is it or isn't it?" the motto of Mr. X. belies the ending where the final scam plays out.

Sivan (Mohanlal) is a well-respected don in the area of Madurai. After his driver was killed in an altercation with a few enemies, including a rowdy cop, he takes the driver's son Shakthi (Vijay) as his own. Shakthi grows up with a vengeful hatred towards the Police uniform and any other Khaki clothing. Even towards his eventual lover (Kajal), initially hating, but then seeing her good side, But it is when his Father desires him to wear the uniform, that turn the tables on the illegal work of Sivan. How Shakthi deals with his Father, and an unknown assailant forms the crux of the story.

just viewed this movie and decided to take the time to make some comments since no one else has.overall I give the movie a 7,the score would be higher if there were less blood and more clothes on the females.Deserves an R rating.In the 1960's and 70's I spent many hours being entertained by dubbed movies,this one is dubbed so it is to my liking.What I like about it in no certain order is as follows:The movie is about the mafia...it's made by Italians,has alot of Italian actors...it seems fitting.Set in the early 1900's in America it has a dark look and mood...great atmosphere.I believe the character lionel stander plays is the same one ernest borgnine had in the movie "pay or die" that of an Italian on the police force combating the mafia,based on a real person.His character gives a sense of realism to the movie and made me wonder if the movie was based some on fact.The little I know about the real person is similar to the character in the movie.In the past I havn't seen much of Lionel stander in the movies but his performance as a tough cop is very good.He is not the main character though,a young man(placido ?)is,he plays a young immigrant that is a victim of circumstance.He is a just person that kills an expendable gangster in the heat of a fight,the victim had previously killed an elderly friend of his.He gets employment from the mob being unaware of the serious unlawful part he has in one of their cold blooded operations...he is a tragic figure.Other viewers might feel this movie is just another low budget poorly dubbed movie.The film left me with the feeling it may have been based more on fact than much more expensively made films about organized crime.It also left me wondering if the young main character was based on a real person-I liked the movie.
