Beautifully woven, complex and subtle, this film captures an essence of NYC after 9/11. A great script, some stunning photography, an excellent score that helps tie it all together, and a great ensemble cast make this small film seem quite large. The emotions that bubble under the surface, only sometimes breaking through, give this film its strength and its power. Different stories of different people all struggling with day to day life sharing the common experience of being New Yorkers post 9/11. The references to what happened are almost all unspoken, evoked through the images displayed or the background sounds, yet there is no doubt that what happened is a force in the lives of all of these people. Intelligent film-making at its best.

At a highway gas station/motel/diner where they live, two young brothers witness their parents murder. The younger brother is blinded in the same incident. Ten years later both brothers are still there and the tragedy may have turned one of them psychotic. When the abusive Gladstone and his young and sexy wife are stranded at the gas station it brings out the worst in everyone.

In the very first feature length spoof of "The Blair Witch Project", director Jerry Vasilatos used similar preparation with his actors as they improvised the story throughout the whole three-day shoot. Having worked previously in drama (Jerry wrote, produced and directed the Christmas movie "Solstice" which aired on Lifetime Television and is also available on Amazon.com), Vasilatos chose to try something lighter his second time out. Casting a talented ensemble cast featuring Kevin Leadingham, Chanda Willis, Brent Beebe, Deborah Wolff and others, his approach was to satirize independent filmmakers trying to ride the coat-tails of the original film. "There were several independent groups here in L.A. all jumping on the "Blair Witch" bandwagon shooting spoofs as quickly as they could to cash in on the original's success... to me, that's what was spoofable... filmmakers haphazardly rushing to ride the coat-tails of something else, unable to come up with their own original ideas, so that became our focus". The result was 10 actors given only snippets of their character motivations and plot points as the shoot progressed right up to the surprise ending, in a similar stlye to the original but this time played for laughs. "Our story definitely has echoes of the real movie, with our characters trying to hunt down a local legend. But we also loved the original Blair Witch Project, so the idea of other people spoofing it with so many of the same jokes is what inspired us to poke fun at them instead."
