Rome, June 1800, is ruled by fear, that is, republicanism collapses, and shifts to royalism. Scarpia, general of the secret police, on the side of royalism continuously commits many republicans to prison. One of the republicans, Angelotti, succeeds in breaking out of prison, and rushes into the church of Sant' Andrea della Valle. In the church, he meets up with another republican, Cavaradossi.

Tales from the Darkside is an anthology horror TV series produced by George A. Romero; it originally aired in syndication from 1983 to 1988. Similar to The Twilight Zone, Night Gallery, The Outer Limits, and Tales From The Crypt, each episode was an individual short story that ended with a plot twist. The series' episodes spanned the genres of horror, science fiction and fantasy, and some episodes featured elements of black comedy or more lighthearted themes.
