KAAJRO is story of Tilgya belonging to an untouchable caste, who has left no stone unturned to find a proper treatment for his ailing wife. Breathing life into her is one of the most important tasks he faces on a daily basis. It is a continuous two hour long journey of a humble man, his love and care for his wife, his service towards society and a lone audacity while the villagers are all set to celebrate much awaited annual festival of Dasshera, the celebration to mark the triumph of Lord Rama over Ravana i.e. good over bad. Tilgya’s wife dies while the celebration is on. He is not allowed to perform his traditional role of playing a dholuk (a local drum) during the rituals and procession, and he is forced to leave the village with dead body of his wife. Tilgya starts an unusual journey by carrying the dead body to bury under Kaajro, a tree which has lifeless existence on the outskirts of the village. At final steps of burial his words fail and tears dry. He is distressed, with an innocent rage that he wants to shatter the social fabric.

La acción de la película la se situa en Santa Fe de Tierra Firme, capital de un país latinoamericano imaginario. Durante la fiesta del Día de Difuntos transcurre toda la historia, llena de odios y trágicas casualidades. Santos Banderas, dictador indígena, solo tiene una debilidad: Manolita, su hija, que ha perdido la razón. Mientras, unos criollos se preparan para derrocar al tirano por la vía de las armas y otros, ingenuos liberales, intentan lo mismo dentro de la legalidad. Santos Banderas se convierte en modelo surrealista y grotesco para denunciar la situación vivida en muchos países latinoamericanos. En esta é(😥)poca surgen novelas protagonizadas por un dictador, como ocurre con esta película. El precursor fue Ramó(🔸)n del Valle Inclán con su obra Tirano Banderas.
