Hong Kong Phooey was a Saturday morning cartoon created by Hanna-Barbera back in 1974. There were only 16 episodes that ever aired on the television network, ABC. After the show was cancelled, NBC purchased the rights to re-air the original 16 episodes from 1977 to 1979. The show is about a janitor named Penrod "Penry" Pooch, who works along with Sarge and Rosemary at the local police station. Whenever Penry overhears a crime being committed, he "jumps" into action. Actually, it's a filing cabinet that Penry jumps into. But shortly after, out comes Hong Kong Phooey. Ready to put the criminals where they belong-- Jail! But to get to the crime scene, he uses the Phooeymobile. This vehicle can change into anything Hong Kong Phooey needs it for (Car, boat...), with a swift "bong of the gong." But as we know, for every great superhero, there is the superhero's trusty side-kick. And for Hong Kong Phooey, this would be Spot, a cat who can't speak, only mumbles/grumbles.

Dozens of luminaries from rock, soul and country gathered at the Meadowlands Arena on October 3, 2012, for an incredible tribute to Levon Helm, The Band s late drummer/singer/mandolin player (who passed away in early 2012). The concert, directed by bassist Don Was, was an opportunity to say a final farewell and, in the process, raise money for the ongoing Midnight Ramble series of concerts still held at The Barn, Helm s famous home-studio in Woodstock, New York. One at a time or, sometimes, in pairs, rock-royalty took turns in the spotlight over the course of the evening, singing songs associated with Levon Helm and The Band including "Up On Crippled Creek," "The Shape I m In," "Life is a Carnival," "Ophelia," "The Weight," "Rag Mamma Rag," "I Ain t Got No Home," and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."

Dark tale of one man's determination to survive his tour of duty. Separated from his new wife after only eight days of marriage, private Doll suddenly decides that he will no longer blindly follow the orders of his superiors, following his own mind instead. What follows are a series of poorly planned attacks, in which Doll saves the day, time after time; eventually leading to the taking of the Elephant in the battle of Guadalcanal during World War II. Sgt. Welsh, Doll's immediate line officer grows an affinity for Doll, helping him through his first Kill, but never quite allowing himself to admit his admiration for the young soldier. The final scene of the movie brings home the true horror of war and the meaninglessness of it all.
