Death, Deceit and Destiny Aboard the Orient Express is a 2000 thriller film about a group of international terrorists who, a few days before the start of the new millennium, lure a group of very rich celebrities and businesspeople on board the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul in order to extort large sums of money from them. The screenplay for the movie was written by Peter Welbeck (aka Harry Alan Towers) and Peter Jobin. The film, which was directed by Mark Roper, starred Richard Grieco, Joanna Bukovska, Romina Mondello, Christoph Waltz, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Götz Otto.

The Police Commissioner, Advocate Sinha and Police Inspector Vikram Singh arrive at the Central Mental Hospital to speak with an inmate, Arun Saxena. They hope to get Vikram to befriend Arun so that they could unravel the mystery as to why Arun ended up romancing wealthy Sapna, then getting involved with Jyoti, and subsequently killing her. Arun is arrested, confesses to the the homicide and is sentenced to be hanged. This news unsettles Arun to such an extend that he becomes mentally unstable and is institutionalized. Vikram hopes to befriend Arun, get him cured and medically discharged, and ensure that he is hanged.

I got this under the title SPECIAL SQUAD SHOOTS ON SIGHT. I've been slowly watching this movie over the past year in 5 minute increments and I finally finished it tonight. It is a Turkish/Italian co production starring the perfectly named Tony Tiger (real name Irfan Atasoy) as a reporter/part time cop/hypnotist (!) who is blackmailed into working for some small time crooks led by Gordon Mitchell, who sounds like Popeye in this. The gang's goal is to steal a mystical Golden Buddha with the help of Tony's hypnotic powers. The film is needlessly convoluted, with mysterious phone calls where you don't know who is on the other end and characters popping up that you have no idea who they are. It also doesn't help that Tony and the other male lead (a cop whose name I have already forgotten) look almost exactly the same.
